Vice President The Save Louisiana Coalition
Monday, June 17th
St. Bernard Parish Council Chambers
8201 W. Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette
6:00PM – COME EARLY, the chambers will be standing room only!
PREVENT THE DESTRUCTION OF ST. BERNARD PARISH!
The Presenters will be Mr. Garret Graves and his staff.
This is a very important meeting. Mr. Graves, his staff and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority are responsible for creating the the Louisiana’s 2012 Coastal Master Plan.
Mr. Graves will attempt to convince you, the residents of St Bernard, that your businesses, your home and the parish of St. Bernard will not be destroyed in the pursuit of their restoration experiment.
It is the opinion of The Save Louisiana Coalition that these diversions will destroy the fisheries of
southeastern Louisiana and in so doing destroy the culture of St. Bernard and all our coastal communities.
Dredging is a proven method to save the coast. Dredges have been used with great success in Louisiana, more specifically in St Bernard. There is no doubt that this technology will work, as opposed to the completely unproven diversions that are currently in the master plan.
Mr. Graves admits that dredges will work, and he likes to say 80% of the money in the Coastal Master Plan will be spent on dredging and only 20% will be spent on the diversions.
Let me ask you this:
If someone gave you a glass that was 80% Kool-Aid and only 20% Cyanide, would that be OK with you? These massive destruction machines named “sediment diversions” are the ” Cyanide” of the Master Plan. Don’t follow the path of the people that believed Jim Jones and drank the purple Kool-Aid.
Stand up for your parish, your family and your friends that have invested their lives in St. Bernard Parish and the State of Louisiana for generations. Tell Mr. Graves that we want to save the coast more than anyone in Baton Rouge ever could; it is our home and our livelihood! We would not fight anything that we thought would help restore our home. The fisherman, shrimpers, charter captains, business owners, and land owners that make up The Save Louisiana Coalition know this land and its waters better than anyone and certainly better than legislators in Baton Rouge. They know diversions will not build sustainable land, and they know that they will be the end of a huge part of Louisiana’s seafood industry. I know what their motivation is, its their homes, their businesses, their families, its the heritage of Louisiana. Ask yourself this, what is Mr. Graves and the legislators in Baton Rouge’s motivation? Our culture? Our heritage? Our homes and businesses? …or the billions of dollars in contracts that this plan will award?
Lets let him know that we are for the master plan and are in full support of dredging, we just want the diversions removed from the plan!
This may the most important meeting of your life, PLEASE ATTEND!!
Tell Mr. Graves how important your families’ future is!
